Privacy policy
TamilDial (“we”, “us”) is a free web hub that helps you discover and play third-party Tamil radio streams. We build for the Tamil diaspora. This policy explains what data we handle when you use https://tamildial.com.
1. Short version
- No account is required to listen.
- We do not sell personal data.
- Playback uses station servers we do not control.
- Small preferences stay in your browser (local storage), not on a TamilDial user database.

2. Who we are
TamilDial is a static website and progressive web app shell. We provide a player interface and a curated list of stream URLs. We are not a radio station, broadcaster, or host of audio files.
3. Information we process
3.1 Data stored on your device
When you use TamilDial, your browser may store:
- Favorites — stations you heart (local storage key
tamildial.favs). - Last station — so we can show “continue” context (
tamildial.last). - Temporary off-air map — stations that failed to play recently, so we can hide dead signals briefly (
tamildial.dead.v3). - Service worker cache — if supported, a small shell cache for offline chrome (not live audio).
You can clear this anytime via your browser settings (clear site data / local storage for this site).
3.2 Data we do not collect (today)
- No sign-up, login, or password.
- No payment or billing data.
- No advertising ID profiles built by TamilDial.
- No first-party analytics product is wired in this build. If we add privacy-friendly analytics later, we will update this page first.
3.3 Technical data via hosting
Like most websites, our host (for example Netlify) may automatically process standard server logs such as IP address, user agent, referrer, and request times for security, abuse prevention, and reliability. We do not use those logs to build marketing profiles.
4. Third-party streams and other services
When you press Play, your device connects directly to stream servers operated by stations or their CDNs. Those operators may see your IP address and player headers under their own privacy practices. TamilDial does not receive the audio payload as a hosted library.
We also load limited third-party resources such as:
- Web fonts (for example Google Fonts) when the layout requests them.
- Optional open-source player helpers (for example HLS.js from a public CDN) to play certain stream formats.
Those providers process data under their own policies. Prefer official station apps or sites if you need a direct relationship with a broadcaster.
5. Cookies
TamilDial does not set advertising cookies. Browser storage above may be used similarly to first-party cookies for preferences. You control this through browser privacy settings.
6. Children
TamilDial is a general-audience listening tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us via email, contact us and we will delete the message content we control.
7. Your choices
- Stop using the site anytime.
- Clear local site data in the browser.
- Unregister service workers in browser developer tools if needed.
- Email hello@tamildial.com with privacy questions.
8. International users
TamilDial is aimed at a global Tamil audience. Hosting and stream servers may be in different countries. By using the site you understand that technical processing can occur across borders for delivery and security.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the product grows. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
